Jacques Sapir, Director of studies at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), talks about why it's not completely correct to call the new political movements of Europe and the United States populist, and reflects on the history of populist movements.
Sapir also talks about the current popular movement behind Donald Trump, and why the movement is bigger than Trump alone, alluding to the mass disappointment of Americans with the promises which Barack Obama made during his 2008 presidential campaign.
