For twenty years now, the plenary session on the last day has been the culmination of the Annual Meetings of the Valdai Club. However, in recent years, a new tradition has emerged – an open discussion, during which all participants can share their opinions about the conference.
Andrey Bystritskiy, the moderator of the discussion, conducted an experiment by asking ChatGPT the question included in the title of the Annual Meeting: “Lasting Peace on What Basis?” The AI network gave a detailed answer, which Bystritskiy asked the participants to comment on, paying special attention to how we, as people, can supplement it.
The AI network’s answer, although it was written in literate Russian and contained all the appropriate phrases, did not satisfy anyone. What it lacks, above all, is recognition of the diversity of cultures and the existence of alternatives to the established globalist capitalist system, Sergey Karaganov said. This is expected: at the session on artificial intelligence it was said that most neural networks existing on the market reflect the liberal political views of their creators.
The discussion of the past conference showed that those gathered were most impressed by the diversity of points of view heard over these three days, and the geographical coverage of the participants. Many noted that the Club meeting became an opportunity to listen to the voice of a truly global majority. The main value of the Valdai Club meetings is the continuous maintenance of communication. Here, the answers are not known in advance, but are born in the course of a frank dialogue based on mutual respect and the ability to hear someone else's point of view. A recording of the broadcast of this fascinating discussion is available on our website.
Also on this day, the final plenary session, titled "Security for Each and Everyone. Together Into a New World" was held, in which Vladimir Putin took part. It was conducted by Fyodor Lukyanov, the Research Director of the Valdai Discussion Club. Watch the video here.
