List of speakers

On June 17, at 16:00 Moscow Time (GMT+3), the Valdai Club will host a discussion on the results of the 50th G7 summit and its significance in global politics.

This year’s G7 summit is taking place on June 13-15. The agenda outlined by the Italian presidency focuses on the Global South and topics related to the Ukraine crisis, Western unity, the challenges posed by BRICS, adherence to international law, economic and energy security, migration, and cooperation with Africa. All of this is discussed in the context of the increasing transformation of the world order towards multipolarity.

Seven countries which once boasted of being the leading economies in the world are now observing the rapid development and strengthening positions of the BRICS member states in the global economic landscape. In an effort to maintain their initiative, the G7 countries are proposing various restrictive measures against Russia and China, as well as other emerging economies.

The organization, which was previously involved in global development and the establishment of conditions for economic growth, is now discussing new restrictions on international trade, sanctions, and pressure on other countries.

How will the upcoming 50th G7 Summit impact international relations? What have the Group of Seven managed to agree upon in terms of resolving the Ukraine crisis? How might the decisions made by the G7 influence the agenda of the upcoming 16th BRICS Summit in Russia? These and other questions will be addressed by participants in the discussion.
