On June 26, 2019, the Valdai Discussion Club will host the 3rd Russian-Iranian Dialogue in Moscow, in partnership with the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS).

Iran is a rapidly developing state; its role in regional and world politics is visibly growing. The bilateral Russian-Iranian dialogue will be dedicated to the logic of strategic partnership between Russia and Iran, as well as to the analysis of the international situation as viewed by Moscow and Tehran. The experts will discuss the state of affairs in the global energy market, the end of the war in Syria, and cooperation within the framework of the Russia-Iran-Turkey triangle.

The conference will be attended by about 30 diplomats and political scientists from both countries, including Seyed Mohammad Kazem Sajadpour, President of the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS); Mehdi Sanaei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia; Mohammad Reza Sheibani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Syria; Mahdi Sobhani, Director General of Strategic Planning and Management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran; Vitaly Naumkin, Academic Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Alexander Maryasov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Iran (2001-2005); Zamir Kabulov, Director of the Second Asian Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry; Andrey Bystritskiy, Chairman of the Foundation for the Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club; Fyodor Lukyanov, Research Director of the Foundation for the Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club, and others.

This year, the Russian-Iranian dialogue is being held for the third time. The first meeting took place in April 2017 in Moscow. In April 2018, the second round of dialogue was held in Tehran.
